What’s In My Mouth? Rundown Of Orthodontic Appliances

Very few people are born with perfect teeth. Luckily, if you’re looking to improve your smile, you’ll quickly find that there’s no shortage of solutions. But which orthodontic treatment should you choose? Here’s a breakdown of what you could potentially be looking at to fix your smile.

Traditional braces have progressed since the early days of orthodontic treatment. They’re lighter in weight and structure, making them more comfortable than ever before. They’re made of high-grade stainless steel and have metal brackets that are attached to each tooth using a special type of cement.

Ceramic braces work in the same way as traditional braces, but the brackets are made from a clear, ceramic material. These braces are less visible to others, which makes them a popular choice for adults who need orthodontic treatment.

Lingual braces align your teeth from the inside by attaching to the back side of the tooth so they’re free from view.

Invisalign utilizes a series of clear plastic aligners that sequentially align your smile. They can be removed to eat and to perform your daily oral hygiene routines.

Temporary Anchorage Devices (TAD) are miniature implants placed into the bone of the upper or lower jaw. They’re used to help move teeth in a difficult direction, as well as prevent unwanted side effects of tooth movement.

Once you have braces, it’s important to take care of them properly. Maintain your dental care habits, adjust your diet, and follow your orthodontics recommendations carefully and wearing braces won’t be as challenging as you think. If you have any additional questions, or if you’re ready to start down the path to a straighter, healthier smile, please contact Speaks Orthodontics.

Best ortho of all times. Seriously! I went to 3 others who told me all sorts of weird stuff and he had no problem moving my wisdom teeth over to missing teeth spots which saved me like 3 implants in the long term. Super sweet office and knowledgeable doc! I am going to miss them!

I visited Speaks Orthodontics to straighten my teeth before my upcoming wedding. I was originally quoted 18 months for treatment, I finished in just 12. The practice is clean, the techs are professional and kind, and Dr. Speaks is very talented. I appreciate that he is direct but remains supportive and encouraging. Highly recommend this practice!
Response from the owner:Thank you, Lauren! We're thrilled to hear about your positive experience and the results achieved ahead of your wedding. Our team strives to provide excellent care, and your recommendation means so much to us!

Dr. Speaks and team have been so wonderful throughout the process of my Spark Aligners! They are incredibly consistent and compassionate. The staff has always been so welcoming and kind - always taking the time to answer any questions I have and making each appointment feeling personable and not rushed. I'm so grateful for the team and smile with confidence these days.
Response from the owner:Thank you, Annie! Your kind words about our team's consistency and compassion truly inspire us. We're thrilled to hear you're confident in your smile. We look forward to seeing you at your next appointment!

I went in for a free consultation for jaw pain. Dr. Speaks was incredibly thorough and spent time patiently explaining what he was seeing and teaching me how to treat it. Turns out I do not need orthodontia! The front desk staff were very nice and Dalia, who is the treatment coordinator, was also very kind. 10/10 from me!

Oh, and my grandson is being treated by Dr. Speaks and he and his parents are very happy so far.
Response from the owner:Thank you for your wonderful feedback, Leila! We’re thrilled to hear about your positive experience with Dr. Speaks and our team. It's great to know your grandson is also receiving excellent care. We appreciate your trust in us!

Response from the owner:Thank you, Ryan! We're thrilled to hear that you had a positive experience with our team and that the aligners made such a difference. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we appreciate your kind words!

Types of Orthodontic Appliances

There are several types of orthodontic appliances available to help straighten teeth and improve smiles. Traditional metal braces are still a popular option, but ceramic braces are becoming more common due to their discreet appearance. Invisalign clear aligners are another popular choice for those looking for a more subtle orthodontic treatment.

Other orthodontic appliances, such as lingual braces and clear aligner systems like ClearCorrect, offer additional options for patients seeking orthodontic treatment. Each type of appliance has its own benefits and considerations, so it's important to consult with an orthodontist to determine the best option for your individual needs.

Tips for Caring for Your Orthodontic Appliances

Proper care and maintenance of your orthodontic appliances are essential for achieving the best results. Regular brushing and flossing are crucial to prevent plaque buildup and maintain good oral hygiene. Avoiding hard or sticky foods can help prevent damage to your braces or aligners.

It's also important to follow your orthodontist's recommendations for wearing and caring for your appliances. This may include wearing rubber bands or aligners for the prescribed amount of time each day and attending regular check-up appointments. By following these tips, you can ensure that your orthodontic treatment is successful and your smile is healthy and beautiful.
